F.A.Q
What is included in the tour?
It includes a photography guide / specialized local guide, local transportation from airport pick‑up, transfers to the different photo locations, return to the airport, accommodation in private guesthouses, and visits to emblematic places with access to key photographic areas. All breakfasts, most lunches, and dinners are also included.
Portfolio reviews, photography lessons, and talks and exchanges with renowned Cuban photographers are part of the experience as well.
Do I need prior photography experience?
What gear should I bring?
How do I book a tour?
Is there a limit on the number of participants?
You don’t need to bring your whole studio to Cuba; it’s much more comfortable to travel light and with gear you already know well. Ideally, you come with a camera you feel confident with, whether mirrorless or DSLR, although you can also enjoy the trip with an advanced compact or even a good smartphone if that’s what you normally use.
In terms of photography, I recommend one main camera body (brand doesn’t matter), a versatile zoom such as a 24–70 mm or 24–105 mm, and, if you like, a fast prime lens (35 mm or 50 mm) for portraits and low‑light scenes. There is no need to bring big telephoto lenses unless the workshop is specifically focused on nature. In Cuba we will mainly work with close subjects, street scenes, and people, where being discreet and able to move freely matters more than having a long reach.
For basic accessories, 3–4 batteries, enough memory cards, a charger, a microfiber cloth, and a comfortable backpack for several hours of walking around the city will be more than enough. A lightweight but sturdy tripod that can handle your camera weight will be useful for night shots and landscapes, but we won’t use it constantly, since most of the time we will be photographing dynamic, fast‑changing scenes.
If you have specific questions about your current gear, you can always write to me before the trip and we’ll review together what is worth bringing and what is better to leave at home. That way you make sure you travel light without giving up the photos you want to create.
Yes. I work with small groups because it is the best way to guarantee a comfortable, authentic experience with truly personalized attention. On my trips, group size is normally limited to a maximum of 6–8 participants, depending on the specific route.
Smaller groups make it easier to move around, enter local spaces without “invading” them, enjoy better photographic opportunities, and dedicate real time to each person, both on a photographic and human level. This also makes the experience closer to the Cuban people and more respectful toward the places and individuals we photograph.
If you are traveling solo, as a couple, or with a group of friends, we can also arrange a more personalized workshop just for you.
No. You don’t need to be a professional photographer or have many years of experience to join these photo journeys. My tours are designed for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced enthusiasts who want to take their photography one step further.
The only truly important thing is that you enjoy taking photos and are curious to learn. During the trip, we take things at a calm pace: I help you with camera settings, composition, use of light, and how to approach people in the street to photograph them respectfully.
If you already have experience, you will find plenty of opportunities to refine your personal style and return home with a strong Cuba portfolio. If you are a beginner, this journey becomes a hands‑on school: you learn by shooting, step by step, in real situations.
The first step is very simple: just contact me through the website form, by email, or via WhatsApp, telling me your preferred dates and the photo tour you are interested in. I will personally reply, or someone from my team will, to confirm availability and answer any questions you may have before you book.
Once you decide to join the trip, we will secure your spot with a payment via PayPal. In the confirmation email, you will receive the link or payment details to complete the deposit, as well as the amount and deadlines for paying the remaining balance of the tour.
After the payment is completed, you will receive a confirmation email with all the details: dates, meeting point, what is included in the tour, recommendations about photo gear, and your next steps. From that moment on, I stay in touch to help you with any practical aspect of the trip until you arrive in Cuba.
Can I travel to Cuba if I am a U.S. citizen?
Yes, you can. Please check our dedicated section explaining in detail how U.S. citizens can legally travel to Cuba: From the U.S to Cuba.
